South Lanarkshire UNISON says vote for fairness, sustainability
and services
We are asking Council Election Candidates to sign up to the six
pledges
1. To work to protect existing services and ensure
that any changes to services, how, when and where they are
delivered, are to ensure that the service users receive the same
quality of service, or better 2. To ensure that priority is given
to ensuring that families and young people have greater access to
decent affordable housing 3. To ensure that older people and
disabled people can continue to live in their own communities with
dignity and to increase the level of services in this field. 4.
To ensure that children in South Lanarkshire will have access to the
best of early years, primary and secondary education. 5. To
protect the environment of South Lanarkshire for our current and
future citizens. 6. To ensure that the Council’s activities
contribute to the economic wellbeing of South Lanarkshire.

Pensions campaign update

The strike action on November
30 was a great success at a local and national level.
Various negotiations have
been ongoing in the run up to Christmas and beyond.
There will be discussions in
Scotland with the Scottish Government under the terms of the 2008
agreement on pensions.
We will need to keep a
watchful eye on developments in England and Wales in the meantime.
As we did declare a dispute
with Scottish Ministers, the separate Scottish LGPS ballot remains
live if there are any adverse developments.
We did declare a dispute with
Scottish Ministers and therefore the separate Scottish LGPS ballot
